Every season, a handful of kids stand out. Not only because they win rounds, but because of how they show up. They arrive early, help their teammates, and keep going when it gets hard. On Saturday 10 October at 09:30, right after our kids grading ceremony, we celebrate those Sharks at the QuanWessels Sharks Kids End of Year Awards.
Girls Athlete of the Year
This award goes to the girl who has shown outstanding dedication, sportsmanship, and heart this season. Our five nominees:

Boys Athlete of the Year
This award goes to the boy who has combined commitment, discipline, and respect for his teammates. Our five nominees:
- Jordan Tommy
- Joshua Steel
- Tanner Cziganeck
- Connor Cloete
- Taye Silber
Rookie of the Year
Open to both boys and girls, this award celebrates a Shark who is new to jiu-jitsu and has made a big impression from the start. Our five nominees:
- Hagan Hayward
- Rogan Goodwin
- Saiyhen Govender
- Aydin Jantjies
Also awarded on the day
Coach’s Choice: Future Black Belt Award. Chosen by the coaches, this goes to the student who best embodies the virtues of our academy. Not necessarily the most decorated competitor, but the one we can picture leading this gym years from now.
Newcomer of the Year. For a student who joined us in the 25/26 season, became part of the team, and quickly took on our culture.
Most Improved. One student in each age group who has made the biggest jump in their skills. This award is about progress, not trophies.
